Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) is a socio-political organization that gathers a great number of women. Its missions are to protect legitimate rights and interests of women, target gender equality for the advancement of women. The VWU is an organization in the political system of the country and is one of the members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front led by the Vietnam Communist Party. The great historical significance of Doi Moi over the past 30 years has made an important contribution of women who represent half of the population. Innovation and international integration both require female expertise and create conditions for women to actively and proactively participate in building the nation, while simultaneously developing their creative potentials, leading to the progress and gender equality of women. The Party emphasizes the need to synchronize economic reforms and political reforms, in which we must make efforts to innovate and improve the effectiveness of the Party’s leadership to women mobilization and VWU operation. In order to fulfill that important requirement, the VWU led by the Party needs to actively innovate its organizational structure and operation, search for practical solutions to help women both actively participate in business, and to take part in professional, political (political participation) and social activities. This needs to be done without women losing focus on their role in building cultural, equal, prosperous and happy families. Innovating the Party’s leadership to women mobilization and VWU operation, in combination with the self-innovative efforts of the VWU, its staff and members - is one of the requirements set out for the achievement of women’s progress and gender equality.
